Montgomery Development Group announces Spartanburg’s first downtown office development in a decade

February 18, 2022

Downtown Spartanburg will soon get a new $10 million Class-A speculative office building, the first project of its type downtown in more than 10 years.

The 30,000 square-foot building from Montgomery Development Group will span three floors, each consisting of 10,000 square feet, with the ability to divide up space for up to three tenants per floor. Montgomery Development Group CEO John Montgomery said the project will pay homage to his grandfather, who originally developed The Montgomery Building at 187 N. Church St., located across the street from the site of the new building.

McMillan Pazdan Smith architecture will handle the design, inspired by the historic design of the Montgomery Building. “The design acknowledges the past but looks forward as well,” said William Gray, principal and Spartanburg office director for McMillan Pazdan Smith.

Prospective tenants should expect a move-in date in the Q4 2022.
